Why your shots feel stuck
The tripod isn’t the problem. A locked-off frame is fine.
What’s missing is the drift. Nobody holds a camera perfectly still, and your eye reads that tiny wobble as proof a person was there. Grok Imagine Video 1.5 puts the wobble back.
01Orbit around me
Slow orbit to the left around the subject, camera stays level at chest height, constant speed with no acceleration at either end. Background moves with real parallax so the wall separates from the subject. Subject stays centred and completely still, no head turn, no hand movement, no change of expression. Natural handheld micro-shake, shallow depth of field, no zoom, no cuts.
Use it on a wide or a mid with space behind you. On a close-up the face bends.
02Push in, don’t zoom
Handheld push-in toward the subject, moving the camera physically closer rather than zooming, with subtle breathing motion and a slight weight shift from one foot to the other. Perspective compresses naturally as the distance closes. Subject stays still and centred, expression unchanged, nothing else in frame moves. Ends slightly tighter than a mid shot. No zoom, no crop, no cuts.
Never write zoom. Zoom crops the picture. A push-in actually moves the camera closer.
03Reveal from behind something
Camera glides out from behind a desk in the foreground to reveal the subject, the near edge of the desk passing close to the lens and slipping out of frame to the left. Foreground stays soft and out of focus while the subject holds sharp throughout. Smooth constant speed with a slight handheld float, shallow depth of field. Subject stays still and centred, no other motion, no cuts.
Something has to pass the lens. With nothing in front, it’s just a slide.
04Float a locked-off shot
Handheld with minimal drift, a slight vertical sway and the occasional tiny correction, as if someone is holding the camera and breathing. No repositioning, no push in, no orbit, the framing stays exactly where it started. The subject holds their pose throughout. Keep the movement small enough that it reads as a person holding the camera rather than as a camera move.
The one I use most. Nothing really happens, the shot just stops feeling dead.
05Tilt up for an intro
Slow tilt up from the floor to the subject, starting on the ground just in front of them and ending level with their eyes, steady constant speed with no acceleration at either end. The camera stays in one place and only rotates upward, it does not travel. Slight handheld float throughout. Subject stays still and centred, no movement until the tilt settles. No zoom, no cuts.
Good first shot. Time it so it finishes right as you start talking.
The short version
Start from your own footage. A generated image gives you nothing to move.
Name the move, then name what stays still.
Make three, keep one. It’s rarely the first.
Put the move at the start of a shot, where it does the work.
The move isn’t the story. It buys you the few seconds people need to hear yours.
